It’s chic to repeat!
This week Cate Blanchett chose to re-wear a chic black Armani Privé dress – which she first turned heads in at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards – during Paolo Sorrentino’s La Grazia premiere at the 2025 Venice Film Festival. Just like it did back at the SAG Awards, the obsidian design completely stole the show on the Venice red carpet, thanks to its array of striking details.
The elegant, black floor-length Armani Privé gown, features a plunging neckline, which dipped all the way down to Blanchett’s stomach, a structural waist, and large tonal gemstones in various shapes and sizes that decorate the neckline. This time around to compliment her dress, Blanchett slipped into a pair of black suede Romy heels from Jimmy Choo, and she accessorized with Louis Vuitton High Jewelry, including a pair of Optimisme monogram star-cut diamond earrings and an Origin ring.
Of course this isn’t the first time Blanchett has been snapped on the red carpet wearing a familiar frock. The award-winning actress (who is a client of celebrity stylist Elizabeth Stewart) has previously repurposed Oscar dresses for the BAFTAs and Golden Globes gowns for the Cannes, proving that a well-cut silhouette always stands the test of time.
Stewart often says in interviews that “it’s chic to repeat” when addressing Blanchett ‘s wardrobe selections. Clearly she’s onto something….but, we’ll have to wait and see if the sustainable approach to dressing for Hollywood events actually catches on in Hollywood.
