The two-in-one that’s really a three-in-one and I’m going to tell you why…
I’m an equal opportunist when it comes to beauty products. I’ll try anything, I’ll buy what works and I’m not fussed if said items are filled with chemicals or with flower petals. So when Tata Harper’s Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tint first launched in the US last year, I wanted to try it for it’s plumping and smoothing benefits. Plus, the two-in-one’s tagline, cream blush for an irresistible flush, was pretty cute and piqued my interest.
I wasn’t alone. The tiny pot of youth-inducing glow flew off shelves and had Canadians like me chomping at the bit for it to cross the border. When it did, we rushed out and bought one (or if you’re like me, four) and I’m still feeling giddy about it.
The product’s age-defying moisture is what everyone’s clamoring for and quite frankly, it works. The cheek and lip cream’s pliable texture smooths my fine facial lines and chapped lips into oblivion. The brand’s natural and organic formulations, however, are what have put Tata Harper on the map and given her cult status with green beauty peeps. This is where the Volumizer becomes a triple threat.
Not too long ago, Sephora asked their customers what ingredients they wanted to avoid rubbing onto their hair and skin. A laundry list emerged, including sulfates, parabens, formaldehydes, phthalates, mineral oil and excessive synthetic fragrance. Now, beauty products that meet the list’s do-not-contain requirements get stamped with Sephora’s Clean at Sephora seal of approval. This cheeky lip tint made the cut.
Filled with botanical and natural extracts and essential oils, like lavender, sunflower seed and jasmine, along with humectants (a fancy word for moisturizing ingredients such as beeswax and vegetable oil), and biocompatible hyaluronic acid to hydrate and lock-in moisture, each tiny pot of colour can be used on all skin types.
The Very Sweet (rose pink), Very Charming (watermelon blue pink), Very Popular (warm rose) and Very Naughty (ruby red) hues are super versatile and can be mixed and matched. Although, word to the wise, I wanted to be Very Naughty, but my pale skin can only pull it off on my lips. That said, the other three hues work everywhere, including on my eyelids. I’m a fan of the tint’s lazy-girl application too; just rub a little on with your fingertips. Tata Harper has been super clever about making beauty healthy, but with her serum-filled roller balls, pre-packed skincare kits and now finger-painting cosmetics, she’s also makes mirror time easy.
