Christmas is approaching, and Stars Hollow is in full festive spirit. However, there’s tension in the Gilmore family. After the events of the last episode, Rory is still not on speaking terms with her grandmother, Emily.
At a Friday night dinner, things escalate when Emily disinvites Lorelai from the annual Christmas party at the Gilmore mansion, claiming there’s no room for her. Feeling hurt, Lorelai chooses not to attend, even if Rory is going.
However, the tensions take a backseat when Richard, Lorelai’s father, suddenly collapses at the party and is rushed to the hospital. The entire Gilmore family is thrown into a state of worry and panic. While at the hospital, Emily struggles with her emotions, revealing a vulnerable side to her character that’s rarely seen. Meanwhile, back in Stars Hollow, Luke creates a Santa burger in honor of the holidays. When he hears about Richard, he rushes to the hospital, showing his deep care for the Gilmore girls.
