The Shoe Trends That Will Be Everywhere This Fall

Okay, we know it’s not yet officially fall, but with the fall collections landing in stores (and yes, those September fashion magazine issues hitting newsstands), we can’t help but get excited about planning our new-season wardrobes. Plus, it kind of feels a bit fall-like outside today, so booties and more covered-up shoes are on our minds. So what better time to launch our new and recurring feature, Personal Shopper, where we tap a fashion buyer to give us the goods on what fashion and accessory must-haves we need to #addtocart each season. It’s sort of like having your own personal shopper with you as you make your way through the store or online shop (hence, the title). We connected with Maria Del Vicario, Senior Director for Aldo Ladies Footwear, to give us a preview of the must-have shoe trends that will be everywhere this season.

The Combat Boot. In a sign that the grunge trend is going nowhere, military and combat styles with hefty soles are reigning supreme. Many it girls and street style celebrities are rocking this trend and making it grow in popularity, says Del Vicario. Styling ranges from grunge punk to more classic looks “ graffiti and slogans are key. Check out the Aldo Glitterati boot, above.

The Embellished Sandal. From sequins to glitter and everything in between, dress-up sandals (like just about everything else in fashion) have gone maximalist for fall. From bold jewels to sequins, rhinestones, studs and pearl accents, it’s all about statement pieces and standout style, says Del Vicario. Check out the Aldo Luciaa sandal, above, which has a hand-adorned statement heel. Available mid-August

The Sock Boot. A trend that’s been making waves on runways for the past couple of seasons, the sock boot is suddenly everywhere, and it’s a look that adds an instant fashion upgrade to any look. Second-skin, sock fit and skin-tight boot silhouettes are hotter than ever, says Del Vicario. Styles range from above the ankle to long line silhouettes that are thigh high and extend over the knee. Check out the gem-toned Cirelle boot from Aldo, above, with a satin finish. Wear it with  cropped jeans or short-hemmed pants. Available mid-October

Something Red. It’s one of the biggest colour stories for fall and this power hue has made its way into footwear. Go for bold with an over-the-knee style or try a more subdued approach with a strappy sandal or pump in crimson. The Aldo Stessy pump, above, has a rainbow-covered outsole, so you’ll make a statement whichever way you go.  Available early August

Metal Edge. An obsession with all things space-age is in the air and its translated into liquid metal finishes in footwear. This season, It’s all about high shine and making bold statements, says Del Vacario. Try the Aldo Cherima over-the-knee style, above, for major wow factor. This sexy silhouette instantly injects a luxe/cool girl feel and is sure to give major shoe envy. Available late September

I would like something that is comfortable, soft, feminine and stylish. does not
make noise, and I don’t need a ladder to get into.
