Nail Polish’s Sexiest Colour: Red

Red is hotter than ever!

Whether it is Kelly Osbourne’s $250,000 manicure at The Emmys or Pinterest flooding with nail art DIYs, everyone is going crazy for nails this month. But, if you don’t have the cash or the time to keep up with the latest nail trends, you can still stick to the tried and true techniques and still be up to date. This season a classic colour is making a comeback. Red is hotter than ever! Stay classy with this fiery manicure. We round up our favourite fall reds; from MAC’s new nail lacquer to Essie’s trending shade.

MAC Flaming Rose ($19)

MAC

MAC launched their first permanent Nail Lacquer collection this summer and already it is a hit. We chose MAC’s creamy and true red, Flaming Rose. It is as classic as it gets.

CND Poppyfield ($11.30)

Poppyfield

CND has been busy this month at the Spring/Summer 2013 runway shows as the manicure of choice at the Victoria Beckham, Rodarte and Monique Lhuillier runways. There is a reason the top designers want their models to wear CND polish. Their colours reflect the season’s trends to a T. Poppyfield is a fun take on red, keeping it bright and fun.

Tom Ford Scarlet Chinos ($30)

Tom Ford

Tom Ford’s Scarlet Chinos glides on smooth and dries with a nice glossy look. If you can spend a little more, Tom Ford’s shades have a special formula with bendable coating that delivers high coverage and shine, plus the colour doesn’t fade or become dull during wear.

Zoya Elisa ($8)

ZOya

Want a little more shimmer in your red? Go for Zoya’s Elisa from their fall fashion week collection. This red has a subtle gold shimmer and metallic finish. Pair this with your LBD for a night out on the town!

Essie Skirting the Issue ($8)

Skirting the Issue

Not a fan of the brights and want to vamp it up? Essie’s Skirting the Issue from the Stylenomics Collection is a burgundy or wine red, and perfect for those with a dark side. This shade is a major trend this season!

OPI Deutsche You Want Me Baby ($8.50)

A favourite from OPI’s Germany Collection is this shimmery red-orange. If you’re tired of classic reds and are looking for something with a punch, this burnt colour is perfect for you. The Collection by OPI embraces the classical elegance as well as the avant-garde that is modern Berlin.
