MTV may have dropped Lauren Conrad new show for being “too high-brow”, but with three best-selling novels and a style guide under her very well-dressed belt, this So Cal girl-next-door is moving far beyond her reality star roots and has no reason to look back. If there’s anyone that knows a little something about fashion, it’s Lauren Conrad, who acted as her own wardrobe stylist for five years on both Laguna Beach and The Hills. She’s grown up on TV doing California cool better than anyone, and we’ve certainly seen her style evolve from cut-off denim shorts in high school to the chic, understated elegance that describes her new line “Paper Crown”.
Although fans of our favourite MTV reality girl let out a sigh when we learned Conrad wouldn’t be returning to the small screen to document her life as a designer, we’re thrilled that she’s released the Fall 2011 lookbook for Paper Crown so we can see the (great) work she’s been up to out of the public eye, and right beside two of her best friends (and are you surprised that they aren’t Hills alum?). Miss Conrad is looking to make her mark as a savvy businesswoman and respected designer with beautiful wardrobe staples that are sure to be at the front of any girl’s closet. Pricepoint on the collection ranges from $69 for jersey tops, to $400 for dresses. Our favourites are the Ryder Blazer, and the perfect LBD – the Audrey Dress. Conrad describes the collection as “cohesive, and very much like me.” Sweet, effortless, charming? We couldn’t agree more.
