This year marks the 50th anniversary of Shoppers Drug Mart. Since 1962, Canadians have been walking down the road to their local Shoppers to pick up medicine, beauty products, magazines and groceries.
The first Shoppers Drug Mart was opened by a Toronto pharmacist, Murray Koffler. His store launched Life Brand products, a private brand that has grown to include over 2,000 products today. Koffler started Life Brand to offer his customers a private-label brand that still carried high quality products. Now, customers can buy everything from toothpaste to tissues.
The Canadian drugstore chain is celebrating 50 years by offering customers special deals. For beauty geeks, there will be a National Makeover Weekend on September 8 and 9 to kick off the celebration. And the BeautyBOUTIQUE‘s home beauty brand, Quo, is coming out with a special 50th Anniversary collection.
The collection includes a palette ($30) that features 14 eye shadows in core shades, and one blush colour, displayed in the shape of the number 50. The brush set ($50) has 10 of Quo’s most popular brushes that will suit all your beauty needs. The faux marble handles are also a luxe touch. Last year, Quo launched a collaboration with Orly, and in celebration of the 50th anniversary, a collection of five sparkly and glittery nail shades were created. Quo by Orly Glitter FX are Perfect for a night out, or for creating a sparkly accent nail. The makeup and brush sets will be out on September 8, while the nail polish will be released on September 15.
