We may live for warm weather, but summer sun means sweat, which can wreak havoc on your makeup routine. One wipe of the brow can smear your perfect lashes, leaving traces of black in your creases and lines. Not exactly the look you were going for. Beat the heat by using waterproof mascara (they’re good for more than just weddings and watching The Notebook after all).
Add one of our favourite waterproof mascaras to your morning routine. Just remember to remove it carefully at the end of the night with a good makeup remover or coconut oil.
CoverGirl Lashblast 24Hour Mascara
This has been a staple in our makeup bags since it came out. The brush on this one is extra large and uses rubber bristles to build long, thick lashes that hold a curl all day. The long-lasting formula really does last all day and night, even through a dip in the pool. So go ahead and dive in.
With a slightly smaller brush than the original BadGal Lash, it still has the spiral brush to lift, curl and separate every lash. The formula is buildable, and gives lashes a long thick look without the clumps.
Last year Makeup Forever became one of the sponsors of the Canadian Synchro Team, so it’s safe to assume they know a thing or two about waterproof. Their entire Aqua line can take you from the office to the beach on the hottest day of the summer. The thick brush grabs from the root, so you’ll have long defined lashes all day.
Though this one technically isn’t waterproof, it doesn’t smear or smudge with watery eyes. The thickening and lengthening formula makes lashes look long and glossy. As a bonus, this mascara works for you all day, using peptides and moisturizing panthenol to allow a longer growing period for each lash.
This is the newest mascara on our list. It promises to give your lashes volume, curl, length and some tender love and care. The brush on this one is tri-spherical, which promises more curl and really lifts the outer lashes. Rather than leaving lashes stiff and brittle, this one leaves them soft and comes off easily at the end of the day.
