Matte lipstick formulas work well for the winter as they stay put for longer (basically you’ll end up reapplying lipstick less and not need to worry about removing your gloves again and again in the cold to do so). Smashbox Be Legendary Lipsticks in Matte ($23) are almost like a hybrid between the brand’s cream formulas, but these matte lipsticks melt onto your lips and won’t budge all day. The added vitamin C and E actively nourish the lips as you rock your favourite shade of the 18 in total to choose from. My personal favourite to complement my black winter wardrobe: Publicist, a bright hot pink shade with blue undertone. Maybelline New York Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color ($13, available at mass drug stores nationwide) is a liquid formula goes on smoothly and stays on the lips for hours at a time without making your pout feel dried out. Available in 12 stunning shades, there’s something for everyone (although we swear by Possessed Plum for the winter months).
