Ariana Grande stunned on the red carpet in Los Angeles for the 2025 Golden Globes wearing a vintage butter yellow confection from Givenchy’s archives. The archival floor-length gown is from Hubert de Givenchy’s spring/summer 1966 couture collection and features a delicate embroidered bodice that flows into a simple column skirt with subtle tiers, and has a demure bow detail at the back. Grande complemented the gown with white opera gloves, custom-dyed pale yellow satin Stuart Weitzman pointed-toe pumps, a sparkling Swarovski Una Angelic choker and matching rings and earrings. She wore her blonde hair in a sleek ponytail with short bangs.
“It’s yellow because follow the yellow brick road,” Grande told Variety during the Golden Globes preshow. “And it’s one of Glinda’s favourite colours.”
Grande added, “This is Givenchy 1966 archive. My stylist Mimi [Cuttrell] and I found it and we were so excited.”
Grande and her long-time stylist Mimi Cuttrell sourced the piece from the celebrity-favourite vintage dealer Lily et Cie. According to the LA-based store, the piece was not just archival—it had never been worn prior to Grande at Sunday night’s Golden Globes. It previously belonged to the wife of a prominent old-school studio head, adding another layer of Hollywood history to this already memorable moment. “The dress was unworn,” they said in a statement. “It still had the original mode depose seal in place on the dress.”
In a release about the look, an archivist at Givenchy shared, “The dress is pale yellow silk with a hand-beaded bodice … from the epic Givenchy Haute Couture/Audrey Hepburn era … one of the most important unions between a designer and muse.”
Grande was nominated for best performance by a female actor in a supporting role for her turn as Glinda in Wicked. She was up against Selena Gomez (Emilia Pérez), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist), Margaret Qualley (The Substance), Isabella Rossellini (Conclave) and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez), who took home the award in the category.
