All The Details Of Lana Del Rey's Vintage-Inspired Wedding Dress Have Finally Been Revealed

Lana Del Rey just celebrated her one-year wedding anniversary. Her gift to us? Finally sharing the story behind the sweeping lace-trimmed wedding dress she wore to marry Jeremy Dufrene, along with some incredible behind the scenes photos, via an incredibly detailed interview with Vogue.

As we shared back when the surprise wedding happened last September, Del Rey wore a dress from Los Angeles-based bridal brand CINQ. At the time, designer of the label Mayce Wysner told Billboard that Lana’s wedding dress was “a custom CINQ gown made specifically for her.” From that day forward, we never heard another word about it, or saw anything more than blurred paparazzi images.

Tapping in to the new slow-drip trend of celebrity wedding coverage in which stars control their own narrative sharing micro-glimpses of their day over time on socials instead of an mega content dump (Selena Gomez is the most recent one), Del Rey’s Vogue story features an exclusive interview with her bridal designer Wysner. She dives in to all the particulars of how Del Rey became her client, and how she and the singer worked together to bring this dream wedding dress to life.

As we thought back when we originally reported on Del Rey’s wedding, her romantic, Victorian-inspired wedding dress was a custom creation by Wysner based on an existing CINQ design, the River gown. As Wysner shared with Vogue, Del Rey first visited the CINQ studio with a friend of hers for an appointment and was not personally shopping for a wedding dress at the time. That friend tried on the River gown but did not end up choosing it. Del Rey herself though was secretly smitten with it.

“A fun little piece of it is that we were sitting at lunch with bridal stylist Hope Levine, and she randomly looked at me and went ‘You’re gonna make Lana Del Rey’s wedding dress one day,’” Wysner shared with the publication. “Of course, I was like, ‘Shut up, Hope.’ Like, our delusional friend Hope is so positive. And on our way home from that lunch Lana called.”

Wysner said during that call Del Rey gushed over the dress and disclosed to the designer she was getting married in a few months. Del Rey arranged a meeting with Wysner to collaborate on what exactly her wedding dress would look like to ensure it was perfectly Lana.

The singer and the CINQ creative team worked into the wee hours one night creating up the dress, deciding to add lace to the skirt, and pickups with little bows to really put her own personal style stamp on it. “It was very Victorian,” shared Wysner’s sister Madelyn who is CINQ’s COO.

Once the design was approved, the CINQ team got to work on creating the bespoke wedding dress which took five fittings to bring it to life. “We did them all at night when she came in,” Madelyn says. “We did it candlelit, had all the lights off, and made it really private and special for her.” The Wysner sisters were also with their iconic bride on her big day to help her get ready and ensure she looked perfect.

In an age when brides are favouring vintage dresses and bridal looks with a nostalgic vibe, Del Rey’s wedding dress was perfectly on point for the time and her own personal aesthetic. We expect to see more lace, more bows, and more Victorian influence thanks to this dreamy wedding dress which at long last has been most thoughtfully and beautifully revealed.
