Cherry blossom lined streets and the temperature consistently hitting double digits can only mean one thing – spring is in full swing! After months of waiting with bated breath and drowning our winter blues in mugs of hot chocolate (or wine, we’re not judging), it’s time to shed the layers and finally embrace the spring trends we’ve been ogling for months. That being said, picking and choosing between so many trends while still trying to maintain a budget can be hard. That’s why we’ve come up with the only guide you’ll need to update your wardrobe for Spring 2015.
Flared Denim Pants
That’s right, skinnies are out so you can breathe a sigh of relief without the impending fear of popping your pant button. Flared jeans are flattering and can be dressed up or down. Pair it with a fringed kimono for a boho-chic look, or with a moto jacket and pumps if you’re going for a less Coachella, more Victoria Beckham look.
Trench Coat
The perfect trench is as important as the perfect LBD. It adds an added layer of elegance to everything from cutoffs to dresses.
Off The Shoulder
The ultimate boho chic must-have, an off the shoulder top or dress is as comfortable as it is fashionable. Perfect for days on the beach with sandals, or nights on the town with heels, we are loving this look.
Culottes
Although intimidating at first, culottes are spring’s must-have pants. The usual concern is what to wear them with. Opt for a high-waisted palazzo fit and pair with a crop top, or take a cue from Lucy Williams and throw a denim jacket on top.
White Shirt Dress
Needless to say, lighter colours are a spring staple. A white shirt dress is a great basic and is versatile enough to wear anywhere, anytime.
Gladiator Sandals
Yup, gladiator sandals are in. How to wear them, you ask? Buy a heeled, lace up version to wear with a LBD for a night on the town, or zippered flats to wear with cutoffs or a sundress during the day.
Bright Bag
Raise your hand if your wardrobe is composed of mostly neutrals. Guilty as charged. A bright bag is a great way to add a pop of colour without changing your whole wardrobe for spring.
Bold Printed Dress
While prints are a huge trend this spring, it’s not really a viable option to stock up on them just to wear for a few months of the year. Instead, invest in one statement dress.
Backpack
Take it from us, a handbag-free experience can be liberating. And if you think this trend is only fit for actual school-goers, think again.
Tailored Blazer
To be fair, a well-fitted blazer is a year-round staple. But let’s not forget, spring is also the time for spring cleaning, so it may be a good time to update year-round basics too!
