On Sunday, April 6, season three of The White Lotus came to a bloody end, with multiple guests and employees not making it out of the luxurious Thailand resort alive. As always the finale left viewers wanting more of creator Mike White’s murderous vacation series. Good thing season four is already in the works.
Before the February 16 premiere of The White Lotus season three, HBO had already renewed the series for a fourth season, meaning there’s more five-star murder in store. But when?
From what White has said about where he wants season four of the luxurious show to be set next to when it may premiere, here’s everything that we know about The White Lotus season four so far.
What is the timeline for season four?
HBO officially renewed The White Lotus for a fourth season on January 22, 2025. A few months before that, HBO CEO Casey Bloys revealed that White had already floated an idea for the next season to HBO programming executives during a visit to the Thailand set last year.
“We were in Phuket, we were together at dinner, and, just as we were talking about the future, Mike’s like, ‘What do you all think about—would you be interested in making more?’” programming executive Francesca Orsi told Deadline. “We’re [like], ‘Well, if you want to make more, we’re here.’”
Season four of The White Lotus is expected to begin filming in 2026; meaning a premiere would likely come towards the end of 2026 or in early 2027.
Where will season four of The White Lotus take place?
Where in the world will The White Lotus go next? The first three seasons of The White Lotus have all taken place at luxury resorts by the beach. However, White has already teased that the location for season four may not have quite the same waves crashing against its walls. (Just a reminder: Season 1 was set in Hawaii, season 2 was set in Italy and season 3 was obviously set in Thailand)
“For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels,” he said at the end of season 3 on HBO’s “Unpacking the Episode” featurette.
White didn’t give any more details away, but previously Orsi told Deadline in the previously mentioned interview that they were already beginning the process to narrow down options. “We’re going on some locations scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon,” she said in February 2025. “I can’t really say where we’re going to land, but chances are, somewhere in Europe.”
Chances are it will also be filmed at a Four Seasons hotel. Though The White Lotus is a fictional luxury hospitality brand, and all three seasons were filmed at Four Seasons hotels. Season one unfolded at the the real-life Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, season two transported us to Four Seasons Taormina at San Domenico Palace, and season three was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. Thankfully, there’s plenty of locations to choose from as the Four Seasons has 133 properties around the globe.
Some fans have speculated that since the first three seasons were all set in a sunny location, the upcoming season could switch things up by spending time in a cooler climate. But don’t hold your breath for a Swiss Alps ski chalet season. “I’d bet $100,000 we don’t end up in the cold next,” producer David Bernad recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “Even if we flirted with the idea, Mike just wouldn’t want to be in the cold. He hates it.”
Who will be checking into The White Lotus season four?
Season four of The White Lotus is still in development, so there’s no official cast list at this time…But, the possibilities are truly endless. In White Lotus tradition, the next season is expected to be comprised of a brand-new batch of hotel guests, with the potential for a familiar face or two to pop in when we least expect it.
White has also said he’s interested in doing an all-star season comprised of fan favourites from across all the iterations. Will that be season four? Probably not. “I don’t think that’ll be season four, but that’s still on the horizon,” said Orsi. “I imagine [White] is going to go beyond four. He hasn’t confirmed it, but I think he has more to say than just one more season.”
So, basically start compiling your dream casts now.
There is one person involved who is definitely not coming back…
Season four of The White Lotus may sound a little different since the series’ composer, Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, confirmed to The New York Times in April 2025 that he will not be returning for another stay at The White Lotus after reports of creative differences on the season three soundtrack.
Where will I be able to watch season 4 of The White Lotus?
The first three seasons of The White Lotus aired on HBO while streamed simultaneously on Max, so it is likely that season 4 will follow suit. In Canada, all three seasons of The White Lotus are currently streaming on Crave.
