Everyone just take a second, raise your hands in the air, and give thanks for the majesty that is this day and this news: Rihanna has created a collection of shoes for Manolo Blahnik and we are all the better for it.
Part of the Spring 2016 collection, Rihanna’s Denim Desserts features six limited-edition styles that were all designed by the singer and Manolo Blahnik.
“The day I see a woman in the street wearing my shoes… I am sorry for that woman because I’m literally going to run after her shouting, ‘Stop! Selfie! Who are you? Where did you get them?'” Rihanna said in a statement. “I’m going to have a moment!”
Note to self: buy shoes, wear them to wherever Rihanna is, and wait for the impending selfie/friendship to take place.
The shoes were inspired by her hand tattoos, and are embellished with denim, sequins, or artisan embroidery. Also, her favourite are the “9-5″s — a boot you must sing the Dolly Parton jam while wearing, obviously.
“Those boots are dangerous!” Rihanna continued. “If you’re trying to get back home to your bed, don’t wear them boots! You will get kidnapped in those boots, those boots are trouble.”
Also trouble: the collection isn’t on sale until May 5, and is only available in Hong Kong, London, and New York. (So if you guys all want to take an Uber together, I’m in.)
But now, words from Manolo Blahnik:
“This is an incredibly exciting collaboration and I am absolutely thrilled with the results,” he said. “Working with Rihanna has been amazing and her drive, passion, creativity, and style has been reflected in the designs, with fabulous results — I think everyone is going to love what they are about to see.”
Spoiler alert: I do. I love them even though skinny heels and me have a very unfortunate relationship that 100% ends in abandonment. (See: I abandon skinny high heels about three hours into any event.) But maybe these will change my mind. Maybe Rihanna can make me commit. I mean, probably not because I also can’t afford these shoes. But I still might try.
