Yes, you read that right. H&M will finally launch ecommerce in Canada sometime this year. And oh boy, it’s about time.
“We are thrilled to be launching online shopping in Canada in 2016. Our fans and followers have been eagerly waiting for this next step in our expansion,” said H&M Canada President, Toni Galli, in a statement. “We are proud to be able to continue our growth in Canada through this new online shopping experience.”
H&M launched online shopping in 2013 in the US, leaving Canadians wondering when we’d get our chance. While three years seems a bit excessive, the lag is unfortunately quite normal when it comes to brands launching ecommerce in Canada. Shipping in Canada is much more expensive than in the US. Making it a tough to offer incentives like free shipping and free returns. A 2015 survey by Business Development Bank of Canada reported that 56 percent of respondents to the survey said they shop online while 77 percent research potential purchases online before buying. Yet, only 12 per cent of Canadian businesses sell online.
FINALLY YES!!!!!!! This makes me so happy!
