This article contains spoilers on who was eliminated from season three of Project Runway Canada, episode five.
By Michele Yeo
This week’s Project Runway Canada saw the designers having to roll with a unique assignment: creating runway ready looks using bathroom tissue as their main material. The designers were asked to select a partner only to find out they’d not be working with their partner, but against them: one partner would be declared safe and the other put up for elimination. After being assigned genres like punk, preppy, couture, new money, and old money, the designers rolled out their multi-ply creations
Curtis, Foster, and Cat, and Leeland finished on top with Curtis’ punk creation declared the winner while Maya, Delayne, Rome, and Charles circled the drain and risked elimination. In the end, Delayne Dixon’s streetwear-inspired hoodie got flushed by the judges and she was sent home. We caught up with Delayne to get her thoughts on the challenge and her elimination.

What was your first thought when you heard what this week’s challenge was?
Oh great, another unconventional material we have to work with lol but I was determined to challenge myself.
What did you think of the twist that you’d not be working with your partner, Cat, but actually against her?
We looked at each other and said, it’s ok we got this, no matter who wins out of this duo, we’re both great designers.
What did you think of your genre of streetwear?
I love streetwear but it’s not my forte, I would have loved to get Cats genre, couture. And streetwear is more her thing too.
What was the most challenging part of working with bathroom tissue, was this the most difficult challenge so far?
Easily the most difficult challenge, at least for me. Tissue rips and is eaten by the sewing machine so easily, and any moisture it disintegrates. I had to redo my hoodie within the last few hours because my original seams quite literally fell apart.
What did you think of the judges calling your streetwear creation “too cliché?”
I definitely agree that a hoodie for streetwear is cliche, but man, did I put some work into the petal sleeves, and the cute little bag. I mean, come on!

What were your thoughts on your elimination, did you agree with it?
I was honestly shocked when I went home, because my looks had never been in the bottom, I had strong looks each week AND I won a challenge. But it was my time. Sometimes that’s just the way it goes!
Describe your experience on Project Runway Canada.
It was the most intense, challenging and rewarding experience. My life and brand are forever changed and I made really good friends. Our group chat is lit. I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
