Melissa McCarthy stars in the hilarious e.l.f. Cosmetics telenovela-style commercial, which made its debut on Sunday, February 8, 2026 during the televised broadcast of Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. McCarthy stars alongside The Good Doctor‘s Nicholas Gonzalez and legendary telenovela villain Itatí Cantoral (best known as Soraya Montenegro in María la del Barrio), as she races to get her lips Spanish-ready for the Bad Bunny halftime show with the help of e.l.f.’s Glow Reviver Lip Oil in Red Delicious ($11 CAD).
When McCarthy realizes she can’t speak Spanish, she crashes her car and wakes up in a fake telenovela, called Melísa. The commercial see the comedian learning to roll her Rs while preparing for “the world’s biggest reggaeton show,” referring to Bad Bunny’s epic halftime show performance.
“The goal is to be funny and celebrate the Latin community,” e.l.f.’s Kory Marchisotto explained to ADWEEK days before the commercial aired.
“We’re deeply embedded in celebrating the Latin community. This is a community that has been a huge part of our journey, and we’ve been celebrating them through a series of beats. This was an easy one for us to say ‘yes’ to when Bad Bunny threw down the challenge.”
e.l.f. Cosmetics also include references throughout the ad to show their love and appreciation for the Latin community.
“The plastic chair, which brings communities together; the sombrero, which is specifically shaped like Bad Bunny’s pava; and then Itatí, who is telenovela royalty. They have everything in there to show them that this is a celebration of their culture.”
