Our favourite thing to do when we get home (besides snuggle the cats) is to wash our face. Not joking. Doesn’t matter if we’ve been gone for 20 minutes on a Häagen Daz run or 12 hours—we put on sweatpants, throw our hair into our scrunchie, wash our face and exhale. There’s something ridiculously satisfying about it. Even more so lately, ever since we started using Anua’s Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil.
Known for its minimalist philosophy and skin-soothing formulas, the Korean skincare brand is giving us all the effective skincare we need without the fuss. Designed to melt away makeup, sunscreen (we wear it daily; and think you should too), grime, dirt, sweat and other gross buildup, the cleansing oil deep cleans without leaving our face feeling tight or dry. Just the opposite.
The cleanser’s hero ingredient, heartleaf extract, calms our skin, helping soothe irritation and inflammation. It keeps our pores clear too, making it especially helpful in reducing and eliminating breakouts and redness. The formula also contains lightweight plant oils that dissolve impurities while replenishing moisture, so our skin feels soft and hydrated.
Its sleek, pump-top bottle is effortless to use as well and keeps things mess-free, leaving very little for us to actually do, beyond emulsifying a few pumps of oil into our palms and then, massaging the formula all over our face. Once we add a bit of water, the elixir turns milky, helping trap dirt, makeup and oil as we wash it all away. Which, BTW, is the most satisfying part of our ritual.
Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil, $28 for 200 ml, available at Shoppers Drug Mart.
