It seems with every passing minute (we’re exaggerating, but still!) a new self-tanning product presents itself in all its bronze-inducing glory. Sadly, quantity doesn’t always reflect quality, and we’ve been stuck with orange, streaky limbs at least a handful of times. Tested and true, new to the game and cult favourites, here are the best self tanners (we think) of all time.
FACE:
St. Tropez Self Tan Luxe Dry Face Oil, $35
Face oils are the skincare buzzword du jour, but we have a feeling St. Tropez’s newest tanning product for the face is going to have lasting power. Indulge in this citrusy-scented, super lightweight oil that provides a gorgeously tinted, streak-free colour that lasts up to five days. The formula also provides a generous hit of moisture without a lick of pore-blocking greasiness while it dries in seconds.
Clarins Radiance- Plus Golden Glow Booster, $30
Love a bronze look but hate the extra step? Eliminate it! Simply mix three little drops of Clarins Radiance- Plus Golden Glow Booster right into your daily moisturizer and watch your skin develop a sun kissed glow in a few short days. For a deeper tone, mix in at night-time, too.
James Read BB Gradual Tan, Face $31
The brush tip applicator makes using this multi-purpose complexion enhancer a piece of cake. With the click of a button, product is evenly distributed through the brush’s bristles and easily blended into skin. Instantly, skin is primed, moisturized and toned, while with continued use, a hint of golden colour will illuminate the complexion.
Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads, $15 for 6
These little wonder wipes do it all. Swiped across your face and neck, these vitamin D enriched clothes exfoliate, tighten pores, eliminate blackheads, and fade sunspots while leaving a natural, scent free glow.
BODY:
St Tropez Self Tan Luxe Dry Oil, $50
Looking to get glowing now and still have a bronzy tint in ten days time? Treat skin to St. Tropez’s Self Tan Luxe Dry Oil, which illuminates skin with a hint of golden shimmer and a hit of the perfect bronze tone instantly. After showering, the initial shimmer will wash off, but you’ll be left with a beautifully natural, healthy looking tan for over a week. Bonus: the formula feels like a dream when applying, and since its tinted, glides on and provides goof-proof coverage as you can see where the product is when swiping on skin.
St. Tropez Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse, $44
Sometimes you need to get a tan in a hurry, and St. Tropez gets that. Their game-changing and award-winning Express Bronzing Mousse formula comes in a super-easy to use, ultra-blendable mousse formula that gives you a glow on the fly. The streak-free no-fuss tint dries in 60 seconds flat, while the smart-shade colour develops in one short hour, meaning you can rinse off after watching just one episode of Game of Thrones. If you have a bit of time to spare and crave a deeper colour, you can rinse off after 3 hours, when the maximum colour is developed.
Vita Liberata PHenominial 2-3 Week Tan, $65
Vita Liberata created their pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Mousse, that yes, actually lasts 2-3 weeks; busy girls everywhere who still love to get glowing rejoiced and the formula was wait-listed during its debut. Still a great pick for a pre-holiday glow or any time you need an enduring tint, this ultra-long lasting formula eliminates the high-maintenance need to reapply a few times a week.
Illume Eternal Nomad Sunlit Bronzing Lotion, $15
Can’t commit to that kind of colour permanency? Slick on Illume’s Eternal Nomad Sunlit Bronzing Lotion, which is pretty much just the opposite: a tinted, illuminating, creamy, dreamy lotion, the bronzer is washed away when you shower. Plus, its coconut mango scent smells like a vacation in a bottle with nary a whiff of that tell-tale tan-in-a-can smell.
Great information, I cant wait to try these products!
