Silver hair do care!
It would seem that everyone from Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Kim K.W. to Pink, Cara Delevigne and Kylie J. have all rocked the shiny hue in the past 12 months. Which may have factored into why L’Oréal Paris and Vogue magazine have deemed it 2019’s hair colour of the year. Considering the two Kardashian/Jenner family heavyweights are particularly fond of the metallic shade it’s not a surprise Anna Wintour is claiming silver as her own.
The longstanding editrix has recognized Kardashian West as a fashion icon since putting the reality TV star and her rapper husband on the April cover of the magazine in 2014. So naturally it makes sense that when Kim (and Kylie) opt for a silver edge that a bevvy of metallic model hairstyles and hues—from silver blonde and smoky to blue tinged—walked the Fall/Winter 2019 runways in New York City, Paris, Milan, London and Toronto.
“Not only has silver hair been a top colour trend on the runways and it is the ‘it’ colour for women of all ages, we love what the colour stands for—it symbolizes charisma, ethereal energy, power, focus and it is beyond chic,” affirmed Orrea Light, vice president of L’Oréal global marketing product development and beauty innovation in an interview with beauty industry magazine GCI. “Whether someone’s desired result is sophisticated, daring, fun, or all three, they can find their perfect metallic match within the esteemed houses of Preference, Feria or Colorista.”
Along with lining drugstore shelves with the cool DIY hair colour, the statement shade is also available with the pro hair salons. Popping up everywhere on Instagram, hair salons like London UK’s Bleach London, Australia’s Bixie Colour, the US’s Behind the Chair and Canada’s Blyss Salon Inc. are featuring their professional take on the versatile hue in imitable snap after snap.
