ICYMI, Toronto Fashion Week is back in action this week, showcasing the spring 2019 collections from Canada’s top designers. In between catching the fashion shows, you can find us backstage hanging out with makeup pro Simone Otis and her squad of makeup artists with beautyBoutique by Shoppers Drug Mart to give you daily recaps of our favourite makeup looks. Kicking off the week, here are our fave looks from day three.
Daniel Gregory Natale: Dewy, Wet Look
With the goal of perfecting the look of skin, Otis describes this look as being super clean and dewy. Don’t let the simplicity of this fool you, nailing the no-makeup look is actually very difficult. As a base, an ultra-hydrating cream was added to all the high points of the face. To keep the focus on a flawless complexion, Otis advised her team to go extra gentle with the bronzer to create believable contours.

Pedram Karimi: Androgynous, Beautiful Alien
Otis wanted to create something different that played with the metamorphosis theme of Pedram Karimi’s show. For this look, she decided to create this luminescent, colourful eye look that features blocked brows.
“I was going to use Elmer’s glue for this look but I’m not going to use it anymore — it’s so hot, it’s going to melt. So I’m going to use a special effects product (liquid latex) and block out some of the models’ brows,” she explains. To finish off the look, she coated the lips with a nude matte lipstick.
