Once the dull grey days start to roll in, life can feel a little lack-lustre. But, if we may suggest a little midweek ‘pick me up’… book that mani appointment you so desperately deserve!
There’s *just* something about soaking your cuticles, getting your nails filed into that perfect almond shape, or becoming transfixed as your nail technician paints works of art before your very eyes. Shaping up your manicure is arguably one of the most rejuvenating quick-fixes to make you instantly feel more put together.
Not to mention, that the nail trends blowing up Instagram this fall are pretty cool. Read on for our top picks… and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to bookmark this page before your next nail appointment either.
Here are six of our fave nail trends for fall/winter 2019:
Creamy hues
Barely there greige hues, icicle blues, taupes, mauves and even creamy turmeric #nailingit all over the runway this fall. When choosing your own pastel hue, take into account your skin tone to select a cooler or warmer look.
Minimalist graphic nails
If you’ve been itching to explore more of a ‘statement’ nail, without venturing into totally out-there territory, test-drive a simple graphic treatment like a diagonal stripe, a graphic twist on the classic french or a half moon. These styles deliver maximum impact, while still being totally wearable and professional.
Embellishments
Pearl accents and 3D accents are not for the faint of heart, but they sure are show-stopping! If you’re looking to up your nail game for a holiday party or big event, consider embellishing your mani to take it to the next level. A word of warning, however, these won’t last for more than a week.
Dark red nails
We’d call this an oldie but a goodie. Whether you’re more of a dark maroon type, a classic cranberry girl, or you’d opt for a super-stylish brick red – dark red nails consistently make an appearance on the runway season after season, and always deliver a sophisticated look.
New French Mani:
Our obsession with 90s style is nothing new – but the beloved French mani is only circling back as a mega-trend now. Nail trendsetters are making this one their own, with modern twists – try a coffin shape, incorporating glitter (another nail trend for fall) or try a #jellyfrench (the two-tone sheer pastel look that is trending hard).
Marbling & Gradients
The popularity of pretty marbled and agate-like patterns extends beyond phone-cases and computer covers. All kinds of semi precious stone-like nail art has been blowing up our insta-feed. If you love the look, we recommend hitting up a salon or considering press-on nails… although, these looks can be achieved at home with crafty hacks, like using a make-up sponge to achieve the perfect ombre nails.
