It's about time MAC just make Rihanna part of their permanent roster (not that there's anything wrong with that), because they've enlisted her once again for a campaign.
Rihanna will be the spokesperson for Viva Glam in January, but unlike simply fronting product (which is great on its own), this campaign raises funds and awareness around HIV and AIDS. Created in 1994 by founders Frank Angelo and Frank Toskan, Viva Glam's profits (100% of them) go directly to sufferers of AIDS and HIV, while the promotional posters are famously colourful, loud, and, well, great.
According to The Telegraph, Rihanna will join RuPaul (who was the first face of Viva Glam), Mary J. Blige, Lady Gaga, and Elton John as campaign spokespeople, but those are the only details anybody knows so far. Today on Twitter, MAC merely announced, "Welcome to #VIVAGLAM… @Rihanna! Arriving January 2014" with more press details/promotional images being promised soon.
Needless to say, this campaign will probably be, in the words of Kerry Washington in Save The Last Dance, slammin' (sorry, she hosted SNL this weekend, and Kerry Washington references are the only way I know how to speak now) — especially since all Viva Glam representatives are active in charities, causes, and social awareness, and Rihanna's influence isn't exactly small.
So stay tuned: January 2014 will be a good month, my friends.
