Oscars Hairstyles 2010: Our Favourite New Looks!

We’re supposed to watch the Academy Awards to see who gets recognized for their cinematic efforts, but the truth is it just wouldn’t be the same without all the glitz and glamour that the celebrities (and their stylists, of course) bring to the night.

Loose Updos

This year’s hairstyles were an eclectic mix, although it seemed that the updo dominated the red carpet.

For starlets with perfect heart or oval-shaped faces, the updo was the most popular pick. Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried wore their hair in ballerina buns, while Anna Kendrick opted for a looser style with soft tendrils escaping to frame the face. Hair accessories were minimal, as it was the dresses that took centre stage.

Long and Vintage

Oscar Hair Cameron Diaz

Another 2010 Oscar hairstyle trend was seen on Sandra Bullock, Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet. All women wore their hair down and elegantly swept over one shoulder. Kate’s controlled wave paid homage to Old Hollywood glamour. Cameron’s signature blonde locks were curled and Sandra’s dark hair was flat, flat, flat.

Tight Bun

Oscar Hair Nicole Richie

The slicked-back style is making a comeback most noticeable on the red carpet. Nicole Richie, Elizabeth Banks and Georgina Chapman all looked adorable in this sleek yet simple style that enhanced their natural beauty.
