Winnie Harlow
Mississauga native Chantelle Brown-Young (Winnie) took the fashion world by storm when Tyra Banks discovered her online and had her try out for America’s Next Top Model. Harlow has the skin condition vitiligo, which means that the cells that produce the chemical melanin die or stop functioning, causing white patches to form on the skin. Since appearing on the show, Harlow has shaken up the fashion industry’s tired perceptions about what beauty looks like and has brought much-need diversity to fashion.
