Spring 2011 Fashion Trend: The Flatform Shoe

There a ton of reasons to wear platforms this summer: they make you taller, make your legs look longer, and are just plain cute! Coming in wood or hemp-like textures with colourful bands and details, these are one pair of summer shoes you can’t do without.

However there are several hazards associated with platforms, such as tripping, arch pain, ankle rolling, and just not knowing how to walk properly in them in general. Enter the platform’s trendy cousin the flatform. Tall and thick heeled like the platform, the flatform gives you height without the uncomfortable heel aspect.

Platforms are meant to make your feet hurt less than regular heels while make it seem like your sporting a 4 inch high heel. Flatforms take it a step further by actually letting your feet rest flat. They come in all the same colours and trends, so it’s really the best of both worlds where function and fashion.

Run, don’t walk, to the nearest shoe store to find yourself a pair of these trendy shoes. Below are some of our picks for stylish flatforms at every budget:

Tips for walking: Practice at home to break in your shoes and make sure you pick up your feet when you walk or you risk tripping. Consider gel inserts, which you can find at any drugstore, if you’re still experiencing pain.

Oh, schoolkid-esque coilhtng! How I love it! I spent many a years in pleated everything just because! I’m really digging those flatforms! I didn’t know they had a name! I actually have a really neat pair I got a few months back the heel part are a twine-like fabric and the upper is a camel colored sandal with a gold buckle they are DEF part of my style direction for the fall. Though, I have to admit, I caved during the recent Solestruck sale and picked up the Olgas you had on a while back, but, in the nude because they would match my coilhtng more! So I am really excited about them. Most of the Mori-esque fashion I like tends to use flats and boots, but I wanted to be able to wear wedges! I love wedges ;;! But yeah, lots of layers (as much as Florida will let me wear) and flowy dresses. More of the same, but with lighter hair and more floral touches!
