How Being a Procrastinator Could Actually Save You Money

There is something to be said for being a planner, an organizer, and an on-the-ball kind of person. A lot of the time, people who are more organized get the better deals, scoop up the best offers and are just generally good with their money. But, sometimes, being lazy and leaving things until the last minute to plan can leave you with a little extra dough. There are certain lifestyle changes you can make every once in a while, that will also save you a bit of cash. Always be on the look out for great deals, and if you can plan in advance, than more power to ya. But, for those of us who tend to be more go-with-the-flow kind of people, here are some tips for smart money saving.

Go for the group deal
Sites like Groupon and LivingSocial have daily deals that will blow you away. You will find reduced gym memberships, haircuts, fitness classes, restaurant deals, day trips and much more. You can subscribe to one or more of these great sites and the savings will be emailed right to you. It is okay if you are a little sceptical at first, and most people have that ˜this is too good to be true’ moment. But, if it is a respectable and well-known company, what you see is what you get. The savings are usually between 50 and 90 per cent and tend to have a yearlong usage period. So, not only will you save big, you can take your time using it!

Be spontaneous
Everyone is guilty of falling into a rut in their lives and that usually means a lack of spontaneity in your life. To liven things up, decide you are going to plan a spur of the moment getaway and look for last-minute deals at travel agencies. You will have to be flexible on when you travel and may not be able to swing your first choice destination, but the savings will be worth it in the end. Be wary of the hotel rating and the flight times, just to make sure you know what you are getting. But, the travel agents will do all the work for you and all you will have to do is pack!

Pick one discount store
With the new extreme couponing craze, we are all starting to feel the pressure to seek out the best deals possible. But, driving around to five different stores to find those deals, is a little crazy in itself. Pick one competitive store that is known for the lowest prices. Put your time and energy into going through discount flyers and checking the weekly sales, instead of racing all over town. When you get to know how the stores pricing works, you save more from pure experience, which will leave more time-and money!- for yourself.

Staying in
There are nights when we all are just too lazy to go out, and that is fine. Your budget will thank you for the occasional night in, and it costs nothing to curl up with a good book, or have a movie marathon with friends. Even the price difference between renting a movie and going out to see one can be huge! Take away the astronomical cost of movie theatre confections, and have everyone bring some snacks to share. Going out to eat versus take out has the same cost-saving powers. Sure, you may pay more for delivery but if you can pick it up on your way home from work, the savings will pay off.
