For the past few months, as you flipped through the season’s batch of fashion magazines, you may have noticed a few of the designer ad campaigns for Spring/Summer 2011. The ad are often so extravagant, they could be confused with high fashion editorials. There were so many great ads to choose from this season, but here are the picks for the top six.

The spring/summer collections from Prada ended up being one of the hottest this season. Their platform shoes, bright colours and bold stripes and patterns were a hit on and off the runway. They chose a very busy concept for this ad campaign. In most of the shots the models look like they are holding as many accessories as they can carry. But it catches the eye and somehow totally works.

Chances are every time you looked at the inside of a magazine cover this spring; you were confronted by this stunning image of model Freja Beha Erichsen. The Chanel ad campaign was very subtle and downplayed, but extremely beautiful. The simple bench outside juxtaposes the couture fashion perfectly. The background almost fades away and all that you see are the exquisite clothes.

Alexander McQueen
Featuring:
Sasha Pivovarova & Lindsey Wixson

This was the first Alexander McQueen ad campaign with Sarah Burton as the creative director. It is so eye-catching and really keeps with the evocative style of Alexander McQueen. Somehow the clothes manage to stand out amounts hundreds of colourful butterflies. The image looks like it could be a work of art, much like the clothes themselves.

This is not only a beautiful ad, showcasing beautiful fashion, but it also could be an ad for sunscreen.  Why be tanned when pale looks this good? And why wear bright colours when pale ones look this good? Amongst all the bright colours in fashion this season, this ad is a refreshing change. It’s simple, a little somber, but lovely.

Obviously front and centre is the Alexa Mulberry bag, looking perfect as always. But what is particularly intriguing about this ad is the beautiful set design. The pretty flowers, white ladders, and cute little pig, are in perfect contrast to the camel attire.
