All Plaid Everything

Let your heart beam with joy, plaid or tartan whatever your prefer to call it…is back to reclaim it’s trendsetting throne. Not only has this iconic vertical and horizontal patterned cloth made it’s way back to the runway it has evolved to include a variation of styles that will satisfy your plaid cravings. Dear Plaid, you have been missed. Sincerely yours…plaid junkie!

In case you are overwhelmed with all the tartan choices available to you this year we wanted to give you a few ways to rock this beloved trend. Okay, we went a little overboard but can you blame us?

Here are three great ways to wear plaid this season:

Plaid Coats: The great thing about a plaid coat is that you can wear it everyday to make a bold fashion statement. Moschino perfectly demonstrates the right way to dress plaid up with a fitted long sleeved light wool waistcoat. Celine goes with a softer grey, red and white color palate in a long wrap or poncho styled coat. Or go for the boyfriend look, showcased by Stella McCartney’s traditional blue tartan oversized coat.

Elegant Plaid: Jean-Charles de Castelbajac; Celine; Emilia Wickstead and Mulberry highlight a softer elegant side of plaid while showcasing bold or subdue tartan hues and tones.  Getting dressed for a busy day at the office has never looked better. Whether you choose to mix and match different patterns, wear a fitted monochromatic plaid suit or accent black trousers with a long sequin jumper. There are no boundaries when it comes to wearing plaid this season.

Plaid Throwback: When you think of one of the best trends during the 90’s plaid definitely comes to mind. Since then, your taste has matured, but that doesn’t mean you can’t pay homage to your favorite 90’s punk style.  If you prefer a tartan kilt paired with Doc Martins or like how well leather and plaid compliment each other take a look at Chanel, Givenchy and Fausto Puglisi. All three designers provide great inspiration. You can also layer a plaid shirt over a dress like Saint Laurent or skip the fuss and throw it on with jeans and a tee, tuck it into a skirt or simply do something effortless and tie it around your waist.
