Trendy Topic: How to Wear Bodysuits

You’ve seen them on runways, in magazines and in the Meccas of hipster neighbourhoods, but how on earth do you apply bodysuits to your everyday wardrobe?  While American Apparel ads make it seem like strutting around wearing a long-sleeved one-piece is an acceptable form of day-to-day wear (it isn’t), reality tells us that our bosses may not approve the fishnet and gymnastics uniform combination at the workplace or in Facebook photos.  So here’s our guide on how to wear bodysuits without looking scandalous.

Layer

The key to almost any ensemble is to layer accordingly and to use the bodysuit as a backbone, not as the outfit itself.  (You may be fabulous, but there’s no way to justify wearing a glorified bathing suit outside of the pool or the yoga studio.)  Taking a page out of the book of vintage, pair a solid one-piece underneath overall shorts and penny loafers, making for an updated version of 90’s chic.

If you’re feeling more conservative, pair a short-sleeved bodysuit with a short denim skirt and gladiator flats for the ultimate retro-yet-modern style ala Alexa Chung, or for a breezy and casual look, embrace a printed free-flowing skirt for that bohemian feel.

Leave Something to the Imagination

Body suits do not fit baggy, so while you may have the figure to flaunt it, remember that leaving something to the imagination will keep you classy and complimented.  Instead of wearing short-shorts and heels, embrace a high-waisted skirt or linen shorts (to balance out your top’s tightness), and adopt ballerina flats or simple sandals to keep you looking effortless.

It’s important to remember that while models look stellar in their multi-million dollar ads, their primary goal is to showcase one piece “ and in reality, we know it takes many more to set up the perfect outfit.  Fishnets and a bodysuit may seem good in theory, but like so many other great concepts, it doesn’t quite work alone in real life.

Know What Works

Bodysuits may not be for everyone, so before you drop your hard-earned cash on this season’s in item, make sure it suits your personality, wardrobe and general look.  If the tight-fitting one-piece isn’t up your alley, you can still go the route of the onesie, and look into the one-piece rompers taking the runways by storm.

A question I would like your opinion on. Guys, do you feel pressured to go all out and spend lots of cash on an engagement ring to please your girl?
Girls, does the size of the ring actually increase how much love you feel for your man?
I dont have a ton of money in my budget but the ring I got for my girlfriend the other day she said was to small so that was disappointing and now I don’t know what to do. So, what’s your felling about this?
