The Wedding Planner: The Countdown is On

The big day is fast approaching. We’re talking like three months away fast approaching. With every passing day, I get closer and closer to my wedding day, and with every passing day I realize how much still needs to be done. It’s always funny when people say to me, OMG it’s so close”are you freaking out? No. No, I’m not. Or at least I wasn’t until you said that. Alas, my wedding is 98 days away and here’s what’s happening right now to prepare for the big day:

Hair prep

My secret to wedding-ready hair: Viviscal. My only complaint is that I wish I’d learned about this earlier in my wedding planning. This hair supplement actually helps boost the shine, thickness and fullness of your strands, which, for your day-of hair, is amazing, especially if you’re prone to flat, fine hair like myself. You’re supposed to take the supplement twice a day for six months and I’ve been taking it for three and my hair is already looking and feeling better. I didn’t want to believe that this was going to work, but it’s hard to ignore the results.

#Sweatingforthewedding

I hate the idea of losing weight solely for one day (which is really just a big party), but I have to admit that the thought of wearing a very expensive wedding gown has motivated me to get into shape, but in a safe, sustainable way. While I’m quite happy with the results I’ve seen from eating better and exercising more (good practice in general), now it’s time to up the ante a bit and tone targeted areas like my upper back and arms. To help me with that, I’ve been alternating barre classes at Generate Fitness (which, let me tell you, are no joke) and hot yoga classes at Moksha Yoga Bloor West (more for my sanity than anything) with some cardio and upper arm strength exercises.

Finalizing decisions

As the wedding day approaches, you start to get some follow-up emails from vendors to solidify your decisions, like what kind of flowers or what flavours of cake you want (plus cake tastings!). It can seem overwhelming to have to make final final final decisions, but my motto has been: Don’t overthink it (something I do on a regular basis). No one is going to care if you got hydrangeas instead of snap dragons or vanilla cake if that’s really your fave.

Next step for me: waiting for all my RSVP cards to come in so I can start the seating chart (the fun stuff).

The Wedding Planner is an ongoing series where we give you some real-life wedding planning advice, from finding the dress to dealing with that ever-growing guest list, over the next few months as we figure it out ourselves.
