Digital Dating 2.0

Digital Dating is ultimately a formula of fate and algorithms. A seemingly logical way to meet and organize the chaos that is love and relationships. While most things can’t be summarized into 140 characters, or explained in a sequence of photos on Tinder, the most important part is meeting and taking the chance to break out of your comfort zone. With online dating and mobile dating – it’s about finding ways to connect with people who have the same interests  as you, that you wouldn’t have ordinarily met through your circle of friends.

My sister and her finance met on eHarmony, a good friend of mine is married to someone she met on Facebook!  Yes, digital dating works. Rather than walking around at bar with your name, interests and whether or not you want kids, or a one night fling – you can find that all information on a dating profile. With paid and reputable dating sites such as Match.com, eHarmony, JDate etc. you can find exactly what you’re looking for. But now, we’re moving into a whole new space – mobile dating.

For all the single ladies (and gents), you should definitely check out Tinder. It’s been around since October but has been catching on like wildfire! Part ‘hot-or-not’ game – it pulls your basic information from Facebook, and matches users based on geography and interests. If you are not interested in the person you see in the photos, you can pass! The app is also safe and un-creepy, as it only connects you with the other person if you BOTH select ‘yes’, allowing you to chat within the app and meet up when you’re ready.  Tinder is a free app and the average age of the users is 23. So it might not help you find your soulmate, it can be a great way to meet new people!

So if you’re not the type to strike up a conversation with that cute boy at the bar, give Digital Dating a try, who knows who you might meet!

For other great mobile dating apps, you can check out Meetme, OKCupid, Badoo, and Are you interested? Now, what are you waiting for? These apps can help you make that love-connection you’re looking for!
