Style.com Set to Launch a Print Magazine

If you’re looking for another outlet for your fashion fix, and you prefer the old-school way of flipping through a magazine, there’s some good news coming out of the fashion world. Style.com, the trendy fashion website known for its style of the day features, guide books, and catalogues is hitting the printing press and going hard-copy.

The new magazine is set to launch this October. After many months of planning, it’ll be perfect timing to launch the mag, as it’s just after the final show of Paris Fashion Week. The first issue will aim at all the fashion-obsessed out there and will feature various items from six top designers that will be available to buy via the website, Style.com.

You may be wondering why the website is turning to an older media style, when everyone else seems to be doing just the opposite. The whole point is about expanding the website, and being available to consumers and the fashion lovers of the world in more than one medium.

If you look at the big picture I don’t think [media] brands can afford to be tied to one medium anymore. Even on the web, it’s not enough to just have a website. You have to be able to be on various digital devices. You need to be on the various social media sites. You want your content to be available as many places as possible, said Dirk Standen, editor-in-chief at Style.com.

So how is Style.com going to stick out as a magazine? It’s going to be very much focused on spring/summer 2012 collections and the goal is to bring light to fashion in a fun and creative way that maybe hasn’t been seen before.

Think of the makeover Jennifer Garner’s character does to Sparkle magazine in 13 Going on Thirty “ you know you’ve seen it. Style.com as a magazine is going to focus on the most interesting people, clothes, and places of the season.

Style.com released a statement saying that their new magazine will chart the highs and lows, the triumphs and the setbacks, the public and private moments on the journey from New York to Paris, catwalk to sidewalk, backstage to after-party. It’s the season from every angle. It’s a magazine for fashion obsessives by fashion obsessives.
