Marni and H&M announce collaboration

You may want to start lining up now, because H&M has just announced their next designer collaboration: Marni, one of the darlings of Milan Fashion Week.

Headed by its founder, Conseulo Castiglioni, Marni’s spring collection for the Swedish retailer will be released on March 8, 2012 and has already got everyone – especially Castiglioni – talking.

“I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favourite pieces in signature fabrics and prints,” he announced. “I love juxtaposing prints and colours, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements.”

“Collaborating with H&M has been an exciting challenge,” he continued. “I’m very proud of the result. Everything has the same level of quality craft and attention to detail Marni is known for.”

And that’s the key: the pieces that have been revealed so far are a testament to Marni’s legacy, with the collection’s preview earning just as many accolades as this collaboration is earning buzz.

Boasting bold colour combinations, pleated skirts, commanding jewellery and African-inspired prints (to name a very small few), it’s safe to assume the collection will likely create just as much buzz as Versace – and just as many long lines. Start hoarding those H&M gift cards now.
