Marilyn Manson for Saint Laurent Paris?

Since YSL evolved into Saint Laurent Paris, there have been some changes. First, it was more black and white campaign photos. Then, the use of musicians Beck and Grimes. Now? Marilyn Manson — in an ad that’s both subtle and stirring.

Hedi Slimane, formerly the creative director of Dior Homme, used his new position as head of Saint Laurent Paris to showcase Marilyn Manson in a way not usually seen. Wearing a classic Saint Laurent Paris leather motorcycle jacket and a black t-shirt, he keeps it both simple and Marilyn Manson-esque through black matte lipstick and kohl eyes (and of course no eyebrows).

You can check out the ad at MTV, and discuss the following below: is moving in a more artistic/musician-friendly direction better for the brand? I’m going to go right ahead and say yes, considering musician style is on par with nearly nothing else. It makes sense for a brand that prides itself on being forward to align with the most creative types of people, and personally, I look forward to see who they’ll be working with next.
