Kelly Cutrone Named a Judge On ‘America’s Next Top Model’

The world of reality fashion television was rocked yesterday after Andre Leon Talley announced he was leaving America’s Next Top Model.

His replacement? The outspoken powerhouse, Kelly Cutrone.

Joining the show for Cycle 18 (which begins early next year), the People’s Revolution owner declared her love for the program, announcing that she’s “a huge fan of America’s Next Top Model and [has] watched the show for years”. She continues: “Having worked in various aspects of the fashion industry over the course of my career, I am excited for this new opportunity and hope to bring a different perspective to the show.”

At 45, Kelly Cutrone has already appeared in reality (“realty”) shows like The Hills and The City, and over a year ago, she starred in the fast-paced Bravo series, Kell On Earth. And with two bestselling books under her belt (and a reputation for telling it like it is), it’s safe to assume that no one would be better suited for the “tough as nails” mentality of everyone’s favourite model show.

Though the departure of Vogue‘s Editor-At-Large comes as a surprise. And after four seasons with the series, Andre Leon Talley seems to have left without drama or a backstory, offering: “I had a great ride and will always consider my experience with Top Model one of the best moments of my life. Tyra is an incredible role model and I learned so much sitting next to her through four cycles.”

Lesson #1: smile with your eyes.
