Karl Lagerfeld reveals new film

Is there anything Uncle Karl can’t do?  Apparently not “ that’s why the esteemed designer has recently unveiled a fashion film highlighting his recent Hogan collection.  Directed by Karl Lagerfeld himself, the film “ La Lettre “ is set in Paris and follows the story of a young couple.

Available to watch on the Vogue website, the short also features the designer himself, alongside models (stars of said film) Baptiste Giabiconi and Magdalena Frackowiak “ who was chosen because she embodies what it means to be a Hogan By Lagerfeld girl. (So “ tall, pretty and thin, then?)

Compromised by six pieces “ trainers, cowboy boots, a clutch, messenger bag, trench coat and jacket “ each has been given a signature Karl stamp, and the collection was celebrated with a party of A-listers and musicians in Paris recently.

So is this the new thing?  With Tom Ford’s A Single Man last year, and Karl Lagerfeld’s recent mini silver screen venture, it seems designers have taken their flair for artistry and applied it to moving pictures.  Is fashion about to delve into the acting equivalent of a trip threat?

If so, here’s hoping we can look forward to another Tom Ford equivalent “ but perhaps with Betsey Johnson at the helm.
