Karl Lagerfeld Defends His Adele Comments

Oh boy. Guys? Are you ready? I don't know if I am. Okay, well, let's just do this together: Karl Lagerfeld told CNN this week that he believes his fat-shaming actually "helped" Adele.

*Passes out from confusion and sorrow*

After saying in February that Adele was a "little too fat," Lagerfeld felt the heat when what he said was (rightfully) deemed inappropriate. Because of that, he apologized, and allegedly sent the singer a selection of Chanel purses — which, according to Vogue, was never confirmed or denied by the fashion house. And sure! We could've left it at that, moved on, and rejoiced when the incident was never brought up again (except in terms of apologies). But then Lagerfeld spoke to CNN.

"Adele is another problem," he said. "I never said she was fat. I said that she was a little round-ish; a little round-ish is not fat. But for such a beautiful girl, after she lost that eight kilos, so I think the message was not that bad."

Let the record state, Adele had a baby less than a year ago.

The Chanel patriarch went on to re-iterate his views on Pippa Middleton, explaining that "her sister looks better," before going on to declare his love for his cat, Choupette. (Which should've been the only thing discussed during the interview, as far as I'm concerned.)

So what the what, Karl Lagerfeld? Is it a question of him generally not understanding the consequences of what he's saying? Or has he been removed so far from this society that he truly believes he's helping? What do you guys think?
