‘The Devil Wears Prada’ The Musical?

The Devil Wears Prada is being turned into a stage musical. Producer Kevin McCollum, who is known for Rent and Avenue Q, said he recently inked a deal with 20th Century Fox that would have him turn successful films into stage musicals. He’ll be starting with The Devil Wears Prada and Mrs. Doubtfire.

Since the production is only in its very early stages, it is unclear if any of the original film’s cast members would be willing to reprise their roles for the musical.

However, Meryl Streep said back in 2012 that she would be willing to reprise her role as fashion editor Miranda Priestly if a sequel were ever to happen. The original book’s writer Lauren Weisberger did release a follow-up novel called Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, but there doesn’t seem to be any plans to turn it into a movie.

Emily Blunt also said she would be willing to return to her Devil Wears Prada character, the sarcastic assistant to Streep’s fashion editor. I think I would do it, she said. We all were told to go on these skinny diets for the first time, but I’d be up for it.

It seems unlikely that Anne Hathaway would return to her lead role, but she does have some experience with musicals (Les Miserables), so anything is possible!

Would you watch a stage version of The Devil Wears Prada?
