Talk about damage control! Brad Pitt is in the hot seat after his comments about his ex, Jennifer Aniston, in a Parade Magazine interview were misinterpreted.
Pitt was recently interviewed by the magazine and gave a rather unflattering description of his life and marriage with Aniston.
He admitted that he was finally a satisfied man in reference to his new life with Angelina Jolie. Talk about an insult! In the interview, Pitt mentioned that he wasn’t living an interesting life and his five years with Aniston were spent trying to pretend the marriage was something it wasn’t.
Now that Pitt has raised more than a few eyebrows, maybe it wasn’t so much of a diss in the first place.
It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend, Pitt said in a statement. It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself “ and that, I am responsible for.
We would hope the five-year marriage wasn’t a complete waste.
Pitt also revealed to Parade that he spent the majority of the 90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony. I started getting sick of myself sitting on the couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic. It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage had something to do with it, he said.
Pitt and Aniston split in 2005 and he began a relationship immediately with Jolie.
The Moneyball actor also raved about his new life with Jolie and their kids in the magazine interview.
I’m satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much. A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss¦That’s the trade-off. But I’ll take it, he told the magazine.
But in the end, Aniston managed to put on a brave face when the news broke, as she stepped out in Manhattan with her new beau, and live-in boyfriend, Justin Theroux.
We also must applaud Pitt for clearing the air; he still clearly respects Aniston, even though they’re now exes.
