Beyonce fans, rejoice! Queen B is confirming what many of us have suspected — that fashion is all about activewear right now. She is teaming up with with Topshop to start a new athletic streetwear brand.
The name of the new company is Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd. and is a 50-50 joint venture between the retailer and Beyonce.
“This not a collaboration. This is about building a brand and building a business — a separate, proper business, with separate overhead and a separate office,” Sir Philip Green, owner of Topshop, told WWD. He added that the new office will likely be in New York.
Beyonce herself will be pretty hands on in this project and will be working closely with the development team, from the creative to the technical aspects of putting together an activewear line.
The brand itself is still unnamed, but it will include clothing, footwear and accessories that will be both fashion-forward and have a focus on performance. Pieces will include items for dance and fitness purposes, as well as for a variety of sports. The company will also be offering "athleisure" items for those looking for activewear without a specific purpose.
While there is currently no official word on when the first collection will be released, the line could hit stores as early as fall 2015.
