29 Things I Learned in 2015

2015 has come to an end, and, as most people do, I’m reflecting on the last 365 days and the lessons that I’ve learned and those that I’ll bring with me in 2016. Happy New Year!

  1. We’re all Beliebers, it’s just a matter of time.
  2. There are few things good friends, a glass of wine and some laughs can’t fix.
  3. You can fight getting older, but every year your body changes and you need to get that shit figured out.
  4. There are going to be people and situations in your life that are bad for you, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to let them go. You will when you’re ready.
  5. Getting to yoga is the majority of the battle.
  6. Eating well really does make me feel better.
  7. The Kardashians aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
  8. I will never give up/cut back on coffee, so stop trying to get me to.
  9. The Internet is a magical (albeit terrifying/mean) place, especially when it generates things like this:giphy
  10. Few things will divide people faster than arguing about the colour of a dress.
  11. There are not enough hours in the day, so it’s important to only watch shows you actually like (like Making A Murderer and Gilmore Girls. Again).
  12. There’s nothing wrong with being a basic bitch.
  13. Sometimes you just have to pick your battles (but still know when to fight and stand your ground).
  14. There are peaks and valleys in every aspect of your life”work, family, relationships, friendships, sex, money”everything will eventually work itself out, but it’s okay to not be okay during the process.
  15. Sometimes the tears will just come and there’s nothing you can do about it.
  16. Never underestimate the power of a quick walk on a bad day.
  17. It matters what, like, five people in your life think”your parents, your S.O. if you’re really serious and maybe your closest friends. That’s it.
  18. FOMO is a real thing and being a responsible adult is annoying.
  19. There’s always a way to make or save more money, you just need to be willing to put in the work and sacrifice some time.
  20. …But personal time is really important and you should spend it the way that nourishes you the most.
  21. Yogurt expiration dates are just a suggestion (within reason).
  22. Nothing brings unwarranted opinions and advice faster than planning a wedding, but all you have to do is smile and say thanks and leave it at that.
  23. Just when you think one country has made progress, someone like Donald Trump will run for president and your faith in humanity will falter.
  24. Everyone deals with their own shit differently so stop trying to make sense of it.
  25. Nourish your body in the best way that you can and know how: if you don’t like running, don’t. If you don’t like yoga, don’t practice it. You don’t have to justify why you like to go to yoga everyday even though it doesn’t give you immediate results. With that being said, push yourself out of your comfort zone, even if that means just trying crow.
  26. Pay attention to what your body and mind are telling you.
  27. It’s good to have a plan and goals, but you have to be flexible. Just because you envisioned something was going one way doesn’t mean it will.
  28. Just eat the cheese. You’ll regret it if you don’t.
  29. Everything will be okay.
