Valentine’s Day Approved Beauty Looks

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and maybe you have a date lined up you’d like to impress. If the look you’re going for is sexy, or sweet, we’ve got a few makeup looks that will keep his eyes on you all night.

Hair
Reese Witherspoon Golden Globes 2012 Sofia Vergara
Nothing says Valentine’s Day like romantic waves. Create soft, touchable waves with a large-barreled curling iron, and shake them loose. Channel Reese Witherspoon and keep your hair brushed back to show off your beautiful face. Don’t worry if it gets a little windblown, tousled, just-out-of-bed curls are sexy, and that’s what you want right?

Or go the opposite route, and pull your hair back into a low pony.  You can dress up a style you normally reserve for the gym by wrapping a strand of hair around the base of the hair to hide the elastic. Or add a little volume to the crown by teasing your hair before securing it in a hair elastic, a la Sofia Vergara at the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards.

Lips
Rachel McAdams red lipstick in New York
Nothing says Valentine’s Day like a bright red pout. Red lipsticks draws attention to your lips, so maybe your date will get the hint and go in for a kiss. On the opposite end of the spectrum, nothing says kissable lips like a swipe of rosy pink lip gloss or lip balm.

Eyes
Elizabeth Banks
If you’re going for a daring lipstick, keep the eyes subtle to avoid looking overdone.  Keep it light with a quick coat of mascara and a little shimmer in the inner corners of your eyes to open them up. Or, take a page out of Elizabeth Bank’s book, and opt for a brown smokey eye. The colour is flattering on every eye colour. Depending on the shade of brown, you can amp it up for come-hither eyes, or tone it down using lighter shades of brown.

Nails
Anne Hathaway Oscars 2011
A pretty, romantic manicure is a great way to dress up your outfit for Valentine’s Day. A classic French manicure will never go out of style, and the neutral colours will compliment any outfit, especially if you rock a red or pink frock for VDay. For nails that pop against your outfit, update that French manicure with florescent pink, or cherry red tips. Any classic pink or red polish, topped with this seasons glittery topcoats will surely made your nails sparkle in the candlelight at dinner.
