Trending at the Met Gala: Futuristic & Moody Makeup

The Met Gala, which is essentially the Superbowl of fashion, was hosted last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. There, the biggest names in fashion were not only doing their usual trendsetting, but using the theme to look into the future of fashion, and if their predictions hold, it turns out that in a couple years the Goth will be pretty trendy. The night was filled with dark lips, smoky eyes and sharply pointed nails with metallic polish, and ring cuffs that would make you think twice before you messed with Gigi Hadid. We’re counting down the night’s most moody makeup moments that are sure to crop up everywhere this year.

Dark lips

The dark lips on the red carpet last night verged from deep purple to full on black. Set against metallic dresses, sequins, and massive jewels, these dark lips added a pop of drama.

Pointed Metallic Nails and Ring Cuffs

Someone please make the correlation between this rising trend and the reduced rate of cat fights at the Met Gala afterparties. Gigi Hadid reigns queen of the sharp nails with a $2000 custom KISS manicure.
