The Most Delicious Scents of 2010

10. Pure DKNY
Pure gives Ugandan vanilla full focus in this fragrance, with plenty of floral accents, like lotus, freesia and orchid, to name a few. Perfect for vanilla addicts. Proceeds from the fragrance support Ugandan women, and the packaging is environmentally friendly.

9. Nina L’Elixir by Nina Ricci
As the gorgeous bottle suggests, this fragrance smells like apple. But it’s a very sweet smell, like candy apples. Its cotton musk notes are also prominent, giving it a clean finish. An excellent pick if you’re into fruity fragrances.

8. Marc Jacobs Lola
The spicier sister of Marc Jacobs’s Daisy, Lola’s most prominent note is fuschia peony, but the pink peppercorn and musk notes give its floral centre a twist. Good if you like spicy or floral fragrances.

7. Philosophy Eternal Grace
One of the newer additions to Philosophy’s Grace fragrances, Eternal Grace is light and sure to energize you in the morning. For anyone who loves crisp fragrances, its blend of clean floral and citrus notes is sure to satisfy.

6. Chanel Beige
Another light floral, this one is a powdery sweet scent modeled after Coco Chanel’s favourite colour, beige. Unique florals like hawthorn and frangipani are accented by honey notes. Great for floral diehards looking to try something new.

5. Givenchy Play For Her
A woody musk foundation gets a touch of femme with its fruity floral accents. Spicy sandalwood, pink peppercorn and amyris wood are lightened up with tiare flower and orchid. Perfect for those who like earthy musk fragrances.

4. Benefit Crescent Row The Second Story
There’s something for everyone with the ladies of Crescent Row. The newest additions to Benefit’s Crescent Row community are Garden of Good and Eva, a strong floral, Lookin’ To Rock Rita, a sexy beachy scent, and So Hooked On Carmella, a delicate sweet vanilla. Why choose?

3. Twirl by Kate Spade
The sparkly polka-dotted ball of a bottle is appealing enough, but the highly-anticipated Twirl’s fruit and floral balance boasts carefree elegance. Its notes include watermelon, orange blossom, magnolia and macaroon. A sweet childlike fragrance for grown-ups.

2. Prada Infusion de Tubereuse
The most heavenly simple floral of the year. But you have to love florals. Prada marketed Infusion de Tubereuse as a crisp, green floral, but it ends up as a pure floral. Tuberose is the star of the show here. A good pick for anyone looking to try a new, distinctive floral.

1. Thierry Mugler Womanity
As the name suggests, this fragrance is a complex blend of sweet and savoury, naughty and nice “ like any woman worth her salt. That salt comes from a caviar note, partnered nicely with fig. Give this a try if you’re looking to shake up your night out fragrance.

The Nina and Philosophy fragrances sound worth checking out – I’m always searching for sweet or crisp scents that aren’t floral. Scents that are floral are so overwhelming, and people who wear them usually smell like they’ve bathed in them rather than just using a few spritzes. My current fave perfume is Serendipity 3 – it has cocoa and vanilla hints, with blood orange mixed in. It’s subtly sweet, and a very warm scent, without being too strong or overpowering.
