The Moschino + Sephora Bears Are Running Late, But They’re Worth The Wait

The much-hyped Moschino + Sephora makeup collab was all set to launch (with much fanfare) last Friday on Sephora.com, but fans were disappointed to learn the products were held up and won’t be online or in-store until Friday the 18th (Update: we confirmed they will now be available August 25). “The bears are running late” read a message on Sephora’s Instagram, and fans are chomping at the bit to get their hands on it.

But, like many things in life, this collection is worth the wait. Jeremy Scott, creative director for the Italian luxury brand Moschino, brings his signature high/low fashion aesthetic to the collection, with blingy gold pieces that look like mini Jeff Koons sculptures and chunky old-school hip hop gold chains. The inspiration for the collab is the iconic Moschino bear, teddy Toy, and it runs through pretty much every piece, from the metallic gold teddy bear Eyeshadow Palette and Lipgloss Chain (both of these are covetable collector’s items, btw), to the whimsical furry bear eye mask and the Bear Brush Set (topped with little bear heads). The cuteness is, shall we say, un-BEAR-able? We. Can’t. Even.

When thinking about the collaboration [with Sephora Collection], I wanted to capture the iconography of Moschino and there could be no more perfect of an ambassador to do that than our teddy Toy! said Jeremy Scott, Creative Director for the House of Moschino. Beauty to me is half the story of fashion, so to be able to share my vision of Moschino in beauty, it was clear that Sephora Collection was the perfect partner.

And since this is the Sephora Collection, they’re all pro-quality tools and makeup formulas and in totally wearable shades, with a hint of playful edge that’s in keeping with Moschino (literally, this whole collection will have you feeling like a little girl playing with makeup in the best way possible). The Bear Eyeshadow Palette”(which we want to keep as a little art piece on our desk/bookshelf)”has just the right mix of neutrals and saturated bright shades (21 in total), along with a lookbook with four makeup tutorials for four Moschino-inspired looks. And the Shopping Bag Eyeshadow Palette (below) features six neutral to rusty-red shades that are totally on-trend right now.

The Lipgloss Chain set features six mini lipglosses, from neutral to bright and dark and moody shades that are perfect for fall. But the Bear Highlighter is probably our favourite piece in the whole collection, as it includes two beautiful powder blush and highlight shades housed in a happy bear face gold compact for stealth strobing on the go. Even once the powder is used up and gone (insert sad face emoji), we’ll be keeping the accessory-like compact for makeup touch-ups for years to come.
