The Lady is a Vamp

You don’t have to be a Team Edward or a Team Jacob to try out this new trend. Perfect your eternal beauty skills and get inspired by all things fangly by following these simple beauty tips:

Lips
Coinciding with this season’s trend of goth-esque lip hues, vamp up your puckers with deep, rich colours. Think dark plum, black cherry, cranberry (hmm, is there a common theme here?) and burgundy tones– just remember to apply Vaseline to your fangs, er, teeth, to avoid a makeup mess-up. If you are fair-skinned, stick to lip shades with more of a red or pink undertone. Medium skin tones look best in burgundy or maroon, and darker skin tones suit lip colour with more brown than red in them.  To add extra oomph to your lippy statement, try applying DuWop’s Lip Venom over top of your bold hue. It will plump up your lips using a concoction of spicy oils– so even you can out-pout Kristen Stewart.

Eyes
Eyes are the key to one’s soul (or if you’re trying out your inner vampire vixen, the key to glamouring your prey). To achieve sultry, mysterious eyes a la Vampire Diaries‘ Nina Dubrev, go smoky with grey, chalky blue and black colors. Begin application with a primer, such as MAC’s Prep + Prime Vibrancy Eye, before applying shadow”you don’t want to look like you’ve been awake for years. Ring your eyes with the shade of your choice using an angled liner brush, and then sweep your lids with a shade lighter. If you’re feeling creative, use your fingers to perfect the exact level of drama that you want. Use a light sweep of white or shimmer just below your brows to keep your eyes looking bright. Finish with a high voltage of mascara and voila”a vision of pure vampire!

Face
When it comes to facing off with the undead, they look surprisingly fresh. Copy-cat this look by using your natural complexion and highlighting what you already have. Start with applying a miniscule amount of concealer, (preferably with SPF as we all know vamps hate the sun) such as Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup. Alternatively, keep it minimal by dabbing a small amount of concealer and mixing it in with your daily moisturizer for light coverage. Try mixing it on the back of your hand to find the perfect consistency. Next, sweep the apples of your cheekbones with a light pink dusting. Finish with pressed powder or HD Microfinish Powder by Make Up For Ever.

Now that you’re a vamped up vampire vixen, just remember these three rules for mirroring the makeup of the undead:

1. Don’t go out in sunlight (with all of this makeup). If you’re going to try all three tips together, save it for nighttime.
2. If you are braving the sun, either go bold with the eyes OR the lips–not both.
3. Don’t bite anyone.
