Bold Eyeshadows for Your Skin Tone

Summer is finally here and it’s time to make your beauty look as bright as the sun! Sure, temperatures are soaring and the sun is making you feel hotter than Channing Tatum looks that doesn’t mean you have to go sans makeup. Here are the brightest and most flattering eyeshadow colours to try this summer for your complexion.

Light to Fair

Remember when pink was used to mostly to rouge up your cheeks? Not anymore. Those with a light or fair skin tone will be in rose heaven, as vibrant, pastel and rosy pinks are the go-to this season. From Donna Karen to Nicole Miller, designers are not blushing (pun intended) about using the girly hue and you shouldn’t either.  If it’s your first time sweeping on this colour, try Maybelline’s Eye Studio Color Explosion set in Pink Punch (available at drugstores) to give you the perfect introduction to Pink Eyeshadow: 101.

Medium to Tan

If you’re already blessed with a summer-worthy tanned golden complexion, highlight it further with a bright orange or yellow eyeshadow. Yes, you read right and no worries, you won’t look like a giraffe – if worn correctly, that is. Take cues from the Spring/Summer 2013 Betsey Johnson runway, which say an array of the sunshine like colours. And if bright orange is your forte go for a burnt orange colour like NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Mediteranee (available Sephora) that is both subtle yet perfectly pigmented.

Dark Tan to Deep

Make everyone around you green with envy with a semi-bold earthy green tone, as seen on the Marimekko models at their Spring/Summer 2013 runway show. Although not a very bold or electrifying colour in terms of pigment, when applied to a dark tan or deep complexion the results speak for themselves: amazing! For an extra-added effect (and pure boldness), use white eyeliner and draw a thin white line on the bottom eyelid. Try M.A.C Cosmetics Shadow in Lucky Green.
