New Beauty Product Trend: BB Cream

Beauty routines for lazy girls are about to get a little bit easier, as BB Creams make their way to the shelves in Canada. BB Creams, also known as Blemish Balms or Beauty Balms, are the all-in-one product that will eliminate those extra steps in the morning.

Origin of BB Cream
BB Creams have a long history for a product only just hitting the markets in Canada now.  Dr. Christine Schramek-Drusio invented the original BB Cream in 1968 in Germany, as a complimentary treatment for an herbal skin peeling method. BB Creams helped cover the scars and get rid of the redness.

But they really took on in Asia, when BB Creams became known at the secret of Korean actresses. The Asian actresses used BB Creams to mask scars while recovering from cosmetic surgery.

What is BB Cream?
Consider BB Cream the ultimate time saver. Most BB creams contain SPF, moisturizer, light foundation, illuminators, and the latest BB Cream from Vichy, Neovadial Lumié¨re, also totes anti-aging benefits.

Canadian versions of BB Creams leave skin with dewy, healthy looking skin, rather that the whitening effects many Asian versions have. The downside to these BB Creams is that they only come in one or two shades, designed to work for all shades of light skin. This means that darker skin tones will need to wait until a BB Cream is designed for them.

On top of moisturizing and perfecting your skin, most BB creams, like Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35, are made to control oil, and prevent the skin from getting skinny throughout the day. So reapplying isn’t necessary. Apply BB Cream on it own for coverage, or use it as a primer and layer foundation on top for a little extra coverage and perfect skin.

Why you should try it
BB creams are the untilmate all-in-one product. Whether it targets oily skin, or uses moisturzer to combat dry skin, there is a BB cream made for everything. It’s perfect for ladies who like to skip a step in the morning, or maybe forget to apply sunscreen every morning. Skip the BB cream, or add a little concealer to your routine if you have acne or red spots.

I’ve just bought ‘Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector’ today to try it out, and I really like it so far- compared to the Korean BB Cream that I’ve been using for awhile now, it makes your skin look much more natural and smooth. The Korean product has a better coverage, but the whitening effect is a bit too much that your face color can be quite unnatural; it always took some time to even out and turn into the shade that’s less ashy. Overall, I like the Garnier product better because it does make my skin look healthy, and I don’t even need to put any extra foundation on it after- very convenient! 🙂
