Spring 2011 Fashion: Sizzling Spring Sandals

For months now you have been hiding your feet beneath heavy socks and durable boots. But it’s spring now, which means it’s time to take off the socks, put away the boots, (get a pedicure) and show of your toes! Some of your sandals from last year will no doubt still be appropriate, as long as they remain in good condition. And if they aren’t in wearable condition or if you are just looking to update your sandal collection, here are some new trends you’ll want to try this spring. Take a look at these designer styles, and their more affordable alternatives!

Block Heel

Who says heels can’t be casual? Here are the benefits of the block heel trend; it works for day or night, your heel won’t get stuck in sidewalk grates, it is super comfortable and it is still just as sexy as a stiletto but with a rugged twist. A block heel sandal looks great with shorts, summer dresses and even a pair of cotton trousers. It’s a truly versatile shoe that will give you a lot of wear this spring and summer.

Wedge/Platform

Platform wedges are back this year in a big way! They are higher than ever and come in many different shapes and styles. A new take on this trend right now is the flatform; an equally high, but less angled platform shoe. Prada has been a pioneer in this trend, and many other designers have followed. These shoes might be slightly reminiscent of the Spice Girls, but when Prada and Derek Lam say it’s O.K., do not question it.

Woven Shoe

Lace and woven shirts with lots of holes have been a hit in fashion this year, but the trend doesn’t stop there. Woven shoe designs are all the rage, and really what’s not to love? The detail on them is intricate and stunning, with all those holes they breath really well, and they just look unbelievably cool.

Clog

Clogs made a comeback last summer with jaw-dropping designs, many inspired by designers like Miu Miu. But clogs aren’t ready to say their goodbyes just yet; if you look at many of the Spring/Summer 2011 collections it’s evident that clogs are back for at least another few seasons. Some are high, some are low, some are strappy and some are covered toe. Any of them would make a lovely addition to your shoe closet this season.

Kitten Heel

This one is for all you tall ladies who love the look of stiletto heels but not the height. In previous seasons you might not have dared to wear a kitten heel, because it just seemed like the lame younger sister of the stiletto. But this season, kitten heels are the trend. There are plenty to choose from so take your pick and rock this trend while it’s still hot!
